Happy Five Year Anniversary to my BLOG!!!

Queens, I'm so happy!!! My baby, my blog turned five on Sunday, July 19th and I could not help but smile!! I have so many emotions as I write this ... I remember clearly when I decided to start a blog and I had NO idea what I was doing, it was a hobby afterall. I had a 11year career in sports before I started Flor de Maria Fashion and I had no clue were it was going to take me BUT now that I look back I would not changed this ride for anything!!! In these five years I have made life changing decisions because of my blog, one of the most important ones, to move to NYC. I say there was Flor before New York and Flor after New York. In these five years I have grown so much as a person and many of you have been able to see that. I have evolve and my style has changed as well. But most important I have met the most incredible people, people that inspire me, teach me things and love me for who I am. All I can say is thank you for being in this journey with me and supporting me in one way or the other, means the world to me. Let me tell you something, always believe in your dreams and never never give up!!! Don't take NO for an answer and surround yourself with good people that want to see you succeed. Cut off any negative people and just be thankful. If I can do it anybody can!!! Thank you Lord for blessing me with so many opportunities, You know I do everything with love and from my heart. Thank you mom for always being there, supporting me, listening to my crazy ideas and taking my pics. I love you ma!!!! Now cheers to another 60 years coz you know I'll be wearing #prostishoes till I'm 100!!!

Mis Queens, el domingo, 19 de julio fue un dia sumamente importante para mi. Estoy feliz por que mi blog cumplió cinco años y mi corazon esta lleno de satisfaccion, dicha, amor, paz y felicidad. No puedo creer que lo que empezo como un hobby, hoy en dia se ha convertido en gran parte de mi. Y aunque no soy solo mi blog, es la razon por la que todo lo que han visto, ha pasado. Yo tenia una carrera de 11 años en el mundo de los deportes cuando empece el blog. Empece de cero, en un mundo que muchos lo califican de frivolo, pero que a mi, me ha dejado las experiencias mas lindas de mi vida y me ha dado mil oportunidades. En estos cinco años he crecido inmensamente, he reido como loca y tambien he derramado lagrimas, he aprendido mucho y he tomado decisiones muy importantes que me han marcado por siempre. Yo digo que mudarme a Nueva York ha sido una de las mejores experiencias en mi vida y existe Flor antes y Flor despues de Nueva York. Solo me toca agradecerles por tanto amor y por el apoyo en estos cinco años! Gracias de corazon sin uds. nada seria posible. Y si uds tienen sueños como el que yo tuve en el 2010, no se den por vencidas y sigan adelante. Rodeense de gente buena y que quieran lo mejor para uds, eliminen a la gente "toxica" y sean felices. Gracias Diosito por tantas bendiciones y enseñarme el camino. Gracias mamá por apoyarme desde el principio, tomarme fotitos y escuchar mis locuras. Eres mi razon de ser, te adoro ma!!! Hi Queen, I hope you are doing great! I was in Mexico for six days on vacation and to celebrate my blog's four year anniversary! I can't believe on Saturday, July 19th my baby turned FOUR! I'm beyond happy and blessed. Thank YOU for all your love, support, comments and being the best readers ever. I could not have done any of this without all of you. Hola mis Queens, espero que estén de maravilla! Como ya saben estuve en Mexico de vacaciones y para celebrar el cuarto aniversario de mi blog. La verdad es que no puedo creer que mi blog cumplió cuatro añitos el 19 de julio. Estoy tan contenta y emocionada de poder celebrar un año mas. Les quiero agradecer de corazón por tanto amor, cariño y apoyo todo este tiempo. Sin ustedes nada de esto hubiese sido posible. Son las mejores. Las ADORO mis Queens! Flor de Maria Fashion Third Anniversary

Happy Birthday to my blog!

It was a cold afternoon on January 2010 when I thought "I want to start a fashion blog" ... and then on July 19th of that year my dream became a reality. Starting my blog has definitely been one of the best decisions I made in my life!  So many amazing things have happened this past year, God has blessed me with so much and for that I will always be grateful. Who would have thought that three years later I would be bi-coastal, living in New York and California. If you would of asked me that 3 years ago I would of said, you are CRAZY! But dreams do come true if you stay focus, work hard and don't give up. Trust me I've work my butt off but never gave up.

Three years later and I not only have my blog, but I also have fashion/beauty segments on multiple TV networks (I used to be a sports anchor ... but fashion never crossed my mind) radio segments, a weekly column on Cosmo for Latinas, clients that won't go shopping, to an event or travel without my assistance. I have also partnered with different brands and have been a brand ambassador to many.  This is more than I ever thought ... my blog started as a hobby and now is my business!  If I can give you and advise, it would be to find what you love and are passionate about and find a way to make a living.  Stay humble, don't listen to negative people, don't trust too many and stay true to yourself. If I can do it, you can too!

I could of not done this without you! And I want to thank from the bottom of my heart for sticking with me;  your love and support mean the world to me. Thank you inspiring me to do better each day and to continue living my dream.  Thank you to my family who have always been there for me, especially my mom. I love you mom.  And thank you to all the people that believed in me. I love you all :-)

¡Feliz Cumpleaños a mi blog!

Recuero muy bien que era un tarde fría de Enero del 2010 cuando pensé "quiero empezar un blog de moda" ... y en Julio de ese mismo año ese sueño se convirtió en realidad.  Definitivamente empezar mi blog ha sido una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado en mi vida. Me han pasado tantas cosas maravillosas este ultimo año, la verdad que Dios me ha bendecido con tanto y por eso estoy mas que agradecida. Quien iba a pensar que tres años despues iba a estar viviendo tanto en California como en Nueva York. Si tu me hubieses preguntado hace tres años si viviria en ambas costas, mi respuesta hubiese sido estas LOC@.  Pero los sueños se convierten en realidad ... si trabajas arduamente, te enfocas en lo que quieres y nunca te rindes. Creeme que he trabajado duro, pero nunca me he rendido.

Ya han pasado tres años y no solo tengo mi blog, sino que también tengo segmentos de moda/belleza en distintos canales de televisión, incluyendo Telemundo, Univision y CNN en Español (Yo antes era presentadora de deportes ... pero moda nunca me lo hubiese imaginado) segmentos de radio, una columna para Cosmo for Latinas, clientes a las que les doy asesoría de imagen y tambien he trabajado con distintas marcas. Esto es mas de lo que me hubiese podido imaginar ... mi blog empezó como un hobby y ahora es mi negocio. Asi que si tienen sueños por lograr, nunca se rindan. Si yo lo pude hacer, ustedes también pueden.

 Y la verdad es que yo no hubiese podido lograr todo esto sin ustedes. Por eso les quiero agradecerles de todo corazón por todo su apoyo, amor y por estar conmigo en todo momento. Gracias por inspirarme y darme ganas de seguir dando lo mejor de mi. Gracias a mi familia, especialmente a mi mama y todas las personas que creyeron en mi. Las adoro :-)

It's my Blog's Second Birthday!

Today is my baby's AKA blog's second BIRTHDAY! This past year has been full of surprises and I'm so glad I had the chance to share everything with you. This ride has been a crazy one but a FABULOUS one as well. One of the biggest decisions I've made in my life happened last December, when I decided to live everything behind and move from San Francisco to New York City. All I wanted was to go after my dreams and I can tell you that it has been the BEST decision I made. Never would I have imagined that I was going to be a Cover Girl and have a two-page spread in "People en Español". I was also featured in "Siempre Mujer" magazine as the blogger of the month and "Cosmo for Latinas" named me one of the TOP Latina Bloggers in the country. WOW, somebody pinch me please :-)

This past year I started doing radio - which I love - I hope to have a radio show one day! I continued to do fashion segments with Univision/Telefutura and most recently with Telemundo as well. I also had the opportunity to go to multiple award shows including the Alma Awards and the Latin Billboards. And one of my DREAMS came true when I started writing for Cosmo for Latinas website (Cosmo was my favorite magazine growing up so this is beyond). I spoke at Hispanicize, started Latinas on the Move (webseries) with Mercedes and Fashion Forward Latinas (fashion seminars) with Carmen. I got invited to the White House and attended my first New York Fashion Week. Plus I got the chance to work with different brands and met so many beautiful people.

That's why I want to THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for ALWAYS supporting me, leaving comments here, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, for sending me emails, Facebooking me (I think I just made that up lol) and tweeting me. Thank you for all your love. I also want to thank my family and friends and most important God for blessing me with so many amazing opportunities. I love you my QUEENS! GO after your DREAMS, work hard, have discipline, don't take NO for an answer, stay true to yourself, don't sell your soul, smile, be happy, love and know that you are exactly were you are supposed to be.

Hoy mi blog cumple dos añitos y les puedo decir que han sido dos años maravillosos. La verdad es que este ultimo año ha sido increíble, me han pasado tantas cosas lindas y estoy feliz de haberlas podido compartir con todos ustedes. Quizas una de las decisiones mas grandes de mi vida la tome en Diciembre del año pasado, cuando me mude de San Francisco a Nueva York sin realmente conocer a nadie, pero con una maleta llena de sueños. Hoy siete meses después les puedo decir que ha sido una de las mejores decisiones que tome en mi vida.

Nunca me hubiese imaginado que iba a ser una chica Cover Girl y cubrir dos paginas de la revista "People en Español" UAU. Ademas salí en la revista "Siempre Mujer" como la bloguera del mes y para rematar salí en la primera edición de la revista "Cosmo for Latinas." :-) Ademas empece a hacer radio y continúe haciendo segmentos de moda para Univision/Telefutura y recientemente con Telemundo. Son tantas cosas maravillosas que me han pasado como escribir para Cosmo for Latinas, ir a diferentes Premios, entre ellos los Billboard Latinos. Tambien empece una web series llamada Latinas on the Move y hace poco me asocie con Carmen para hacer seminarios de moda por todo Estados Unidos. También me invitaron a la Casa Blanca y asistí y mi primera "Semana de la Moda en Nueva York".

Por eso quiero agradecerles de todo corazon por todo el apoyo que me han mostrado desde el principio, sin ustedes mi blog no existiera. Gracias por sus mensajitos en Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, emails y todo el cariño que me dan día a día. Tambien quiero agradecer a mi familia y a mis amigas por su apoyo y sobretodo a Diosito porque me ha bendecido mas de lo que me hubiese podido imaginar. Que les puedo decir, sigan sus sueños, trabajen duro, ignoren a la gente que les digan que NO pueden hacer algo, tengan disciplina, vivan día a día, sonrian, sean felices, amen, sean humildes y rianse que la vida es solo una. Las adoro mis QUEENS.
