How to look fabulous when stressed!
New York Fashion Week came to an end which means that I can finally breathe again! Many of you are probably thinking what is she talking about? I would love to attend a few fashion shows and sit among celebrities. Let me just tell you that is not all glitz and glamour like most people think. Well it can be for celebrities and the crème de la crème, but for me it is much more than that. I have a lot of deadlines to meet, whether it's writing for different publications, doing radio interviews, TV segments or updating my blog/social media on a daily basis.
I also have to cover shows that are far from each other, which means I have to fight to get a taxi or make sure my car service didn't leave. Or I have go straight from a show to a party, which means I have to freshen up in the ladies room since it'll be impossible to go home and make it on time with NY traffic. I also have to make sure I'm always picture perfect because I don't want to end up in the "worst dressed list!" And on top of that, add meetings with brands, PR agencies and the lack of sleep; I get 5 hours if I'm lucky.
At the end of the day NYFW can be be very chaotic, exhausting, hectic and stressful. Don't get me wrong I LOVE all of it, but sometimes it can be too much. So today I'm going to give you some tips on how I deal with the stress and come out on top! Maybe you can use some of these tips for similar situations.
- I make sure I get my nails done a couple of days before the shows. And I get gel instead of a regular mani so I don't have to worry about my nails getting ruined. Make sure you pick a color that compliments your outfits. You can never go wrong with nude.
- Picking out outfits can be very stressful because you want to look fabulous and don't want to end up on the worst dressed list. So, I make sure to plan my outfits in advance, so I don't have to stress about it the day of the show.
- As you all know, I love my heels, but I keep flats in my bag so I can switch to them when my feet can't take it anymore. Of course I put my heels back on for the shows and parties!
- Like I said before, so many times I end up running from show to a party because I don't have time to go home and change. In that case, I usually change my hairdo, my makeup and jewelry. I usually go for a different color lipstick and different hairdo from what I had in the morning.
- I always make sure to have a protein bar in my bag, especially because I am so busy running from show to show that sometimes I don't have time to eat.
- I also carry a mini toothbrush/toothpaste in my bag. With so many events happening there's always food and drinks involved and I want to make sure I always have fresh breath. Mints come in handy too.
- And I can't forget Band-Aids, wipes, aspirin and my phone charger. Of course I smile and breathe through it all because at the end of the day I'm living my dream!
La Semana de la Moda de Nueva York ya llego a su fin lo que significa que finalmente puedo volver a respirar. Much@s de ustedes diran pero de que habla Flor, ya que asistir a desfiles de moda en Nueva York y estar rodeada de gente famosa es el sueño de muchas personas. Pero dejenme que les diga que no todo es glamour y cache como much@s piensan. Para mi es una semana llena de trabajo, donde tengo que escribir para diferentes publicaciones, hacer entrevistas de radio, segmentos de television, bloguear y estar metida en las redes sociales casi todo el dia.
Ademas tengo que cubrir desfiles que quedan en diferentes lugares, lo que significa que tengo que correr como loca para encontrar un taxi. O tengo que ir de un desfile de frente a una fiesta, lo que significa que tengo que arreglarme en el baño del evento ya que con el trafico de Nueva York seria imposible ir a casa y llegar a tiempo. Ademas tengo que asegurarme de que siempre estoy lista para fotos, ya que no quiero terminar en la lista de las peores vestidas :-) A todo esto agregale reuniones de trabajo con compañias, agencias de relaciones publicas y la falta de sueño – maximo duermo 5 horas al dia.
En resumen la Semana de la Moda puedes ser bastante caotica y estresante. Pero no lo tomen a mal AMO cubrirla y no la cambiaria por nada, pero a veces puede ser agotador. Por eso hoy les voy a dar algunos consejos de como lidiar con el estres y verse divinas. Quizas puedan usar estos consejos para una ocasion similar
- Antes de que empiece la Semana de la Moda me aseguro de hacerme manicure y pedicure. Ademas opto por el gel para que asi me dure mas tiempo la manicura. Cuando escogas un esmalte asegurate que el color va con todos tus outits. No te puedes equivocar si escoges un color nude o hueso.
- Escoger outfits puede llegar a ser bastante estresante por que te quieres ver divina y no quieres terminar en la lista de las peores vestidas. Por lo que me aseguro de planear mis looks con anticipacion para no estresarme el dia del desfile.
- Como saben AMO mis tacones pero igual llevo sandalias chatitas en mi cartera para cambiarme cuando ya no aguanto los tacones. Por supuesto que me pongo los tacones para los desfiles y fiestas.
- Como lo he dicho anteriormente, algunas veces voy de frente de un desfile a una fiesta, ya que no tengo tiempo de ir a mi casa a cambiarme. Cuando eso sucede, me cambio de peinado, de maquillaje y accesorios.
- Ademas me aseguro de siempre tener una barra de proteina en mi cartera, ya que como ando de un desfile a otro, a veces no engo tiempo de comer.
- Tambien llevo conmigo un cepillo de dientes, ya que no falta comida y bebidas en los eventos que voy y quiero asegurarme de siempre tener buen aliento.
- Y no puedo olvidarme de las curitas, el cargador de mis telefonos movil, aspirina. Por supuesto una sonrisa no me falta por que al final del dia, estoy viviendo mi sueño

New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 - Day 6
Yes, I'm bright and I like it hahaha. Blue, yellow and leopard is what I wore to attend my last shows at New York Fashion Week, Milly by Michelle Smith (pictures below) and Falguni and Shane Peacock (very futuristic). I specially fell in love with all the bags at Milly by Michelle Smith and the collection gave me a few ideas how to rock a sweatshirt and bright colors!

At the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013 Fashion Show
When I received the invitation to the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013 Fashion Show I was beyond thrilled, I had to call my mom to tell her the amazing news!!! It was a dream come true, not only because Mr. Oscar de la Renta is an amazing designer, but also because he is one of my favorites and I was one of the few that got an invitation :-) The day arrived and I took a car to the label's space on 42nd street dressed in all white and nude. As soon as I stepped into the building I could feel the energy and soon enough the place was completely filled with the creme de la creme. I think everybody, just like me, was excited to see Mr. Oscar de la Renta's new collection and celebrate his 50th year working in New York. Besides that, there were rumors than John Galliano - whom Oscar invited to his studio - would be there as well. So the excitement grew as the minutes went by. As soon as the first model came down the runway, it was unlike any other show I had attended. It was magical. The collection took my breath away and it was more than I expected. From the suits to the gowns it was just perfection. Oh, and even though Galliano didn't attend the show, I did see some of his influence on this collection. Bravo Don Oscar de la Renta you did it again! You can catch me on Telemundo 47 tomorrow at 10 am talking more about this amazing collection.

Cuando recibí la invitación para asistir al desfile de la colección de Otoño 2013 de Oscar de la Renta estaba bastante emocionada, tanto asi que tuve que llamar a mi mama a contarle la excelente noticia. Para mi es un sueño hecho realidad, no solo por que Don Oscar de la Renta es un diseñador como pocos, si no tambien por que es uno de mis diseñadores preferidos y yo iba a estar entre las pocas personas invitadas a este gran desfile. Realmente un honor. :-) El día tan esperado llego y yo llegue a sus oficinas en la calle 42 vestida de blanco y hueso. Ni bien entre al edificio pude sentir la energía de la gente, y mientras los minutos pasaban el lugar se iba llenando de la crema y nata. Tanto yo, como los invitados, estábamos ansiosos por ver la nueva coleccion de Don Oscar de la Renta y celebrar sus 50 años trabajando en Estados Unidos. Ademas habían rumores que John Galliano - a quien Oscar invito a colaborar con el en su estudio - iba a estar presente en este desfile, así que ya se imaginan la espera. El desfile empezó y ni bien vi a la primera modelo, suspire lentamente. Este desfile fue como ninguno que había asistido anteriormente, fue mágico. Desde los trajes hasta los vestidos de gala, todo fue confeccionado a la perfección. Bravo Don Oscar de la Renta, usted es un orgullo latino. Y aunque John Galliano nunca llego, si les puedo decir que vi su influencia en varias piezas de esta colección. Les cuento que mañana estaré en Telemundo 47 a las 10 am hablando mas sobre esta colección,
